EBMX XLB-60 Core Motor for Sur-Ron Light Bee

The EBMX XLB-60 Core is a motor for people who want more torque down low — where you actually ride off-road. It is built on the original XLB-60 and tuned for a sharp throttle response at lower speeds. This is not a “slower” version of the Race — it is a different character.

Core or Race — which one to pick

• Core (this motor): torque in the low range, technically difficult terrain, climbs, stunt, city riding. Around 41 kW.
• Race: bigger stator, faster winding, maximum revs and speed. MX, drag, track.

In short: if you spend most of your time in the woods and on technical trails — Core. If top speed and the track are what count — Race.

What it fits

• Bike: Sur-Ron Light Bee (harness and mounting kit MTR041 for the SRLGB model)
• Controller: tuned at the factory to work with the EBMX X-9000 — compatible with V2 and V3
• Other controllers: they will work, but usually need individual tuning
• Battery: to make full use of it you need a battery with increased current capability

Why an encoder instead of Hall sensors

This is not a marketing detail, it is a difference you feel through your hands. Hall sensors work out rotor position roughly and usually operate up to around 2,000 rpm, after which the motor switches to sensorless mode. An encoder measures the real rotor angle across the whole rev range, and does it far more often.

In practice that means:

• no sudden current spikes when the wheel spins up, under hard braking or when you snap the throttle — so fewer protections cutting power at the worst possible moment
• more precise torque control at low revs
• a predictable, even throttle response
