Warp Drive is a complete kit for swapping the stock belt drive for a chain drive on Sur-Ron and Talaria. It solves the most common problem with the stock drive: a belt that starts skipping or snaps under load once you run a stronger controller.

What is in the kit

  • 2 vibration-damped sprockets, made from black steel with an EDM coating
  • KMC 420 O-ring chain — 42 links with a split link

Specifications

  • Final gearing identical to the stock belt drive (OEM) — the way it rides and the range stay the same, only the reliability changes
  • The kit is 10–15 decibels quieter than other 420 chain drive kits on the market — that comes from the vibration damping in the sprockets

How to tell it is time to swap

  • A single “jerk” on a hard launch — the revs climb but the bike does not accelerate
  • A short, dry crack from under the drive cover
  • It happens more often under load — on climbs, coming out of a corner at full throttle
  • Rounded-off edges on the belt teeth and rubber dust around the pulley

One skip does not destroy the belt straight away, but every one after that shears the teeth down further.

What it fits

  • Sur-Ron
  • Talaria

The downsides, honestly

A chain drive is louder than a belt and needs looking after: cleaning and lubrication, especially after riding in mud. On a bike with no combustion engine noise you hear the difference clearly. In exchange you get a drive that will take power a belt can no longer handle — and one that wears gradually instead of snapping without warning halfway through a ride.
