Torp TM40 Pro Motor for Sur-Ron Light Bee

The Torp TM40 Pro is the top model in the Torp motor range — up to 50 kW. A motor for people building a specific project, not for people after a general bump in performance.

Read this before you buy

The TM40 Pro needs a full upgrade of the bike, not just a motor swap. 50 kW is many times what a stock Sur-Ron Light Bee is built for — a bike that is not properly prepared will get damaged or will be dangerous.

To run it safely you have to uprate:

• the drive chain, to a higher-strength one
• the sprockets
• the brake system
• the remaining drivetrain and suspension components

Recommended setup

• Controller: Torp TC1000 2.X — this is what the motor needs to reach the full 50 kW
• Battery: 80 V Performance (M) class or higher, on high-current cells
• Drive: the Warp Drive chain kit instead of the belt
• Suspension: fork and shock chosen for the higher speed

Who this is not for

We will say it straight, because we would rather not sell than sell you the wrong thing: if you want livelier recreational riding and you are not planning to uprate the drive or the brakes, the TM25 will be the better and cheaper choice. The TM40 Pro only makes sense in a thought-through, complete setup.
